![]() There are many more value-added benefits that are specific to individuals who consistently work with mind maps. This list of benefits is, of course, by no means comprehensive. Helps triggers creative associations between seemingly unrelated bits of information.Helps provide you with more clarity about your goals, ideas, and actions.Helps you to prepare for tests and examinations.Helps you save time while working, studying or learning.Helps unlock unexpected creative insights and ideas.Helps unlock hidden understandings within information chunks.Improved your capacity to manage your academic workload.Helps accelerate your ability to solve complex problems.Makes learning and organizing information fun and exciting, which subsequently strengthens your interest in the subject matter.Helps expand your ability to take effective, better organized, and more comprehensive notes.Helps enhance your level of focus and concentration while working or studying.Stimulates the imagination and encourages creative insights and ideas.Helps reduce mental clutter, cope with information overload, and overwhelm.Helps you organize information into easy to remember chunks.Helps improve your memory, retention, and comprehension of information.Improves your capacity to explore detailed snippets of information.Helps you grasp a big picture overview of the subject under study.Listed below are several benefits of using mind maps for thinking, organizing information, and brainstorming ideas. In a general way, mind mapping expands our ability to think laterally and logically in any given situation. The benefits of mind mapping are extensive and far-reaching. Mind mapping seamlessly blends logic and creative thought to help us think more proficiently and effectively about the subject we are learning. It presents an overview and summary of a body of knowledge that fuses words and pictures together. Mind mapping is a method for storing, organizing, prioritizing, learning, reviewing and memorizing information. #Mymind mapping how to#We will conclude our discussion by taking a look at the industry accepted standards of how to draw mind maps and the rules that govern their design. After which we will delve into the benefits of mind mapping and describe a variety of uses for mind maps. We will begin our exploration by defining the process of mind mapping. This exploration will provide you with a visual comparison of the features of each tool to help you figure out whether or not it might be suitable for your purposes. #Mymind mapping software#What follows is a beginner’s overview of the principles behind mind mapping.Īlong the way, we will also explore several mind mapping examples using a variety of mind mapping software programs. Our methods for organizing information are changing dramatically, and visual mapping is quietly becoming a revolutionary tool that’s keeping us organized, productive, and focused. There are now a plethora of visual mapping software applications available on all platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. Visual mapping has slowly crept into mainstream awareness over a period of about 10 years. It’s instead evolving into a visual information management tool that’s transforming the way we think, work, and develop our visual thinking capacity. These days though, mind mapping isn’t just about creating a map. It is now on the brink of becoming a mainstream tool used by academics, students, business professionals and many other individuals to manage, organize and reimagine information in a new and highly structured way. Mind mapping has come a long way since the early days when Tony Buzan first introduced it to the world. If anything, these studies have highlighted that our capacity to think effectively and quickly is very closely tied to our imagination and our ability to create associations between various information chunks. The past 20 years have brought us incredible insights into the human mind and our limitless capacity to think, comprehend and store vast reserves of information. Mind mapping is a visual information management tool that helps us structure, organize, memorize, arrange, brainstorm and learn information in a highly specialized way. The more you know and learn, the easier it is to learn and know more. – Tony Buzan What is Mind Mapping? ![]()

![]() Alternatively you can invest in a vintage lens (see below). You can use the lens you own and increase the distance between the subject and the background – this will throw the background out of focus and make the bokeh more visible. If you don’t own a super-fast prime, but still want to create beautiful bokeh, you have other options. (The shape of the bokeh is most noticeable in the highlights). An aperture that is circular will, naturally, create rounder bokeh than an aperture that is more hexagonal. #SOAP BUBBLE BOKEH LENS DESIGN TRIAL#Many bokeh fans swear by fast primes, but only trial and error will determine what works best for you.Ĭrucially, the lens you use (or more accurately the shape created by the aperture blades) will determine the size and shape of the bokeh that you obtain in the final image. For great bokeh you need a fast lens (something that will open to f/2.8 or more is ideal). The quality of the bokeh you achieve depends on a number of things: the lens you use, the distance between the subject and the background, and the aperture you select. Again, what attracts one is sure to repel another, and there are no clear definitions.īokeh can be used by portrait photographers to add a touch of sparkle and energy to a scene. #SOAP BUBBLE BOKEH LENS DESIGN FREE#Photographers use a whole host of adjectives to describe the quality of bokeh including smooth, creamy, beautiful, sweet and silky (feel free to add your own). Generally speaking, bokeh is categorised as either ‘good’ or ‘bad’ but, as with most things, what one person loves another person hates, so it’s pretty subjective. Most people use it as a term to describe the rendering of out-of-focus areas in an image – it’s frequently used when talking about backgrounds, but it can also be applied to foreground ‘blur’ too. With that (kind of) settled, we can move on to what bokeh actually means. To settle the argument, or at least move on, I would like to propose ‘boh-keh’, as suggested by one of Canon’s Japanese-speaking product managers (although he did go on to explain that bokeh is pronounced differently in different areas of Japan!). I’ll hold my hands up and admit that I’m a repeat offender. Over the years I’ve heard this five-letter word spoken as ‘boo-kay’, boh-kuh’ and ‘boh-key’– sometimes all in the same sentence. It’s not just the definition that bothers them, it’s also the pronunciation. The word ‘bokeh’ can cause some photographers to become irrationally irritable. Tracy Calder asked two full-time photographers to share their tips on achieving beautiful bokeh The rendering of out-of-focus areas in a picture should be more than just an afterthought. ![]() ![]() Of course she’s still in the band, but instead of using her lovely low rich voice, she’s mostly singing in a soft airy style that’s just as dull and tame as the compositions are. And the thing that pains me the most is the lack of Sandra’s distinctive vocals. Jiggle is completely out of the picture (we’ll talk about that later), Hey last beautiful is indeed punkish (but so sad, I find modern punk boring as hell), there’s a nice little trippy electronic bridge in The long way home (but it’s so short and then it returns to the mandatory gangling) and Numen is indeed very pretty, but that’s not enough to hold a whole album together. There’s more maturity in Anne Claire than in this whole record put together and that was 15 years ago. Second, toning things down and repeating the same washed out generic pop-rock song seven times and calling it an album isn’t maturity, it’s just playing it incredibly safe. Dennis saw Stefan bending over and decided it would be fun to mimic fucking him, Stefan put a bra on his head and Sandra got on the shoulders of a very uncomfortable security guard and piggy backed him all the way to the audience and back. For one thing, I’ve seen them in live shows and they’re as silly as ever. I don’t consider this maturity and I’ll tell you why. Even if it does so in a less serious way, I come back to what I was saying in the previous review, that music has to evoke some sort of emotion, not just provide a noisy background that leaves you the same as you were before listening to it.Īpparently most listeners consider that if you don’t have bizarre lyrics and weird music, then you’re all grown up, as all opinions I read about this album include the word “mature”. If it’s just listening, then it needs to reach deeper than just the surface. I’m no cynic (well, maybe I am a little), but this kind of bouncy upbeat music works only if I want to dance to it. I listen to music to feel challenged, fascinated, moved, but here there is no emotion, no creativity, no technical prowess… and when music doesn’t excel neither here, nor there, what do you cling onto? What is there to make you give the record another spin and to differentiate that band from thousand of others who play the same monotonous colourless music? Same with the lyrics, maybe some people appreciate that they no longer sing about dicks and underwear, but leaving aside the fact that their goofy careless attitude is what made them fun and captivating, when the alternative is some naive childish “reach for the stars and don’t worry if you miss, cuz you’ll land on the moon” type of bullshit, I cannot help but yawn. It completely lacks the kick and it’s not because it’s not aggressive anymore, it’s because it’s very prudent and redundant. Maybe some people appreciate the fact that Guano Apes are now nice and tame and play good old fashioned pop-rock without screaming and kooky rhythms, but personally I am bored to tears by this type of unadventurous repetitive music. What I hate the most about this is the shallow la-di-da-di-da that is present throughout most of the album. The lack of identity, however, is the smallest of the problems. With the exception of Like Somebody, Numen and Jiggle, all the songs are just one giant mash of something I would not remember the next day even after a dozen repetitions. This is an album that sounds nothing like what you’d expect from Guano Apes, but, worst of all, it’s just a collection of dull vanilla tracks. And considering I once listened to Dark passion play from Nightwish, that really is telling something. Sadly, had I never heard about this album at all, I wouldn’t have missed much, because this is one of the most disappointing things I ever laid my eyes/ears on. So since music has no expiration date and I love this band, there goes the Offline review. It’s been a year since this album was released, but apparently I live under a rock and haven’t heard about it until a few weeks ago. Running around the Union City outskirts, I was struck by how high you could look up the intimidating walls, all the way to the cloudy sky overhead. As for the camera itself, mercifully it moves pretty freely along with you, never making it feel like you're having to fight it to show what you want to see. This works well enough in practice, though it does mean you have to be right in front of an object you want to interact with, which feels a little bit clunky sometimes when using the WASD keys. (A gamepad option seems likely, as this game is coming to consoles as well, but I wasn’t able to test this on PC.) There is no key to highlight hotspots in the area, but when in close proximity to something interactive, an option will flash up for you to engage with it or use an item from your inventory on it. Moving Foster is a case of using the WASD keys and mouse for the camera, pressing Shift to run. There's always a danger with 3D that areas are so open that vital objects or puzzle clues are easy to miss, but there seemed to be just about enough clear signposting in my demo to make it obvious where I should be exploring. Characters move around even more freely, birds fly overhead, and nearly everything is an object that can be used or examined in some way. Some have bemoaned Revolution's decision to change Beneath's 2D graphics, but stepping into the busy arena outside the city proper, I was struck by how much freedom 3D allowed life to take its course. Unlike its predecessor, Beyond will be completely 3D with characters and backdrops that have a cel-shaded comic book feel, in a similar vein to Telltale's The Wolf Among Us, if with a less noir-styled, slightly brighter palette. It's up to Foster to track the gang down and get Milo back, and unsurprisingly, it soon becomes clear that all roads, and answers, lead to Union City. Of course, all that changes very quickly when a group of masked strangers burst up from the ground in a strange bipedal machine and in the attack they take Milo, one of the current camp's children, with them. Foster's still a nomad, travelling from tribe to tribe in the desert scrubland outside of Union City, called The Gap. The intro does a good job of summing up Foster's past for anyone who hasn't yet given the now-free Beneath their time (or has simply forgotten in the ensuing 26 years). But the main part of my playthrough put me in control of Foster on the outskirts of the city trying to find a way past the gate back in.Īs with its prequel, Beyond presents Foster's current predicament using the beautiful comic book panel stylings of award-winning Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons. At the start of this sequel to the 1994 sci-fi point-and-click adventure classic Beneath a Steel Sky, it's clear that returning protagonist Robert Foster doesn't share my intrigue – he'd pretty much rather be anywhere else than back in the place he spent much of his time trying to escape last time. Returning to Beyond a Steel Sky after my brief demonstration with Revolution's CEO Charles Cecil at last year's gamescom (which now seems like a lifetime ago), I was looking forward to finding out what more Union City and its colourful cast of reprobates and robots had to offer. ![]() ![]() Vivamus aliquameleifend lacus, in dapibus estpulvinar vel. Smithy is the one who has been creating all of the weapons (as his name might imply), so when you finally confront him, it’s a big moment. Second of all, this track is one of the default songs that I think of when I am told to imagine a final battle song. There are plenty of amazing final boss themes, so I don’t wish to belittle any others. First of all, if I made it sound like that, I apologize. From the detailed spritework and characteristics that anyone who played a Final Fantasy game for the SNES would have identified him as such.Ĭulex was just a beast of a fight. This is a slightly remixed boss theme of the one from Final Fantasy IV, and the first time I saw Culex, I had no idea that he was from that franchise. After you unlock a door in Monstro Town with the Shiny Stone, you step inside, but instead of a house, you’re in an empty void of time and space. We’re going to take a pit stop in our journey here with a look at the boss theme of one of the two optional bosses in SMRPG: Culex. So I have many choices, but I’ll try and only pick the songs that have the most significance to me. As per most RPGs, the soundtrack covers a lot of ground and presents the themes of many different characters and areas. She used some arrangements of Koji Kondos original Mario music and about 3 songs from Nobuo Uematsu (since this game was made in part by Squaresoft). Yoko Shimomura (who did the music for Street Fighter II) is in the wheelhouse for Super Mario RPG. I even called him to ask the name of a boss instead of Google. When it did come out, we were ecstatic and it’s one of the few games that Andrew and I have the exact same memories of. This game was the game to buy when it came out, and my brother and I were more than willing to work outside in the yard in order to earn money to get the game. We explored the crazy world and characters, logging them into our memories for years to come. Though this wasn’t the case, I like to think that the overarching thought process stayed with my older brother and I as we played Super Mario RPG. When I saw this sword crash down and he named Smithy as the boss of the operation, it seemed clear that he was the big bad of the game.
